How X Payouts Work: Pay Periods, Payout Dates and What Counts

X pays creators every two weeks, on a Friday. Here’s what counts, when the money lands, and what X still hasn’t told creators.

An oversized orange notification displaying an illustrative $367.85 X payout bursts through the Friday page of a paper calendar, with curling torn paper and a small phone below; charcoal pencil illustration on warm cream with an orange accent.

The short version

X pays Original Content Rewards every two weeks, on a Friday, for qualified impressions: views from Premium users on the Home timeline. The minimum is $30. Recent payout days were September 25 and October 9, 2026.

X does not publish when each period starts and ends, whether impressions from before approval count, or a rate per impression. Below is what X has confirmed, what is likely, and what my own payouts show.

What does X actually pay you for?

Qualified impressions. X’s Original Content Rewards page defines them as “unique impressions from Premium users … on the Home Timeline feed, where at least 50% of the post is visible.” Creator Studio shows them as verified impressions. What that means:

Counts

  • Views from paying X subscribers (Premium users)
  • Views in the Home timeline
  • Your own original posts and commentary

Doesn’t count

  • Views from people without Premium
  • The same account seeing a post twice
  • Paid, promoted or boosted impressions
  • Copied, aggregated or reposted content
  • Posts with a Community Note

So total views in your analytics overstate what you are paid for. The number to watch is verified impressions in Creator Studio, and the way to grow it is reaching more of the people who pay. That is what ClimbX is built for: daily posts in your voice and replies in the conversations your audience reads.

Who qualifies: 500K or 3M impressions?

X’s Help Center still lists 500,000 verified Home timeline impressions in the last 90 days, plus Premium and 500 verified followers. Impressions on replies don’t count toward it. Since October 11, some creators have reported Creator Studio asking for 3 million instead; X has not confirmed that. What is known and what is only reported is in 500K or 3M impressions: what X says now.

How long is a pay period?

Two weeks. X doesn’t publish the exact start and end dates, but its own September example shows the rhythm: the period closed on Monday, September 7, and the money went out on Friday, September 11. So you are paid about four days after a period ends.

X Help: the final old-program payout covered “earnings accrued through September 7” and was “expected on or around September 11.” Checked October 13, 2026. Later periods follow the same two-week rhythm.

When do X payouts arrive?

On Fridays, every second week. The dates so far, and the ones that follow if the cycle holds:

Past dates from X Help and @XCreators, checked October 13, 2026. Future dates follow the two-week cycle; X’s terms let it change the cadence at any time.

What time of day does the money land?

X does not publish a time. Based on my own X payouts, the money has come in from the evening until around 3 at night Danish time. Converted:

Where you areTypical window
Denmark / Central Europe (CEST)About 18:00 to 03:00
UTCAbout 16:00 to 01:00
US Eastern (EDT)About noon to 9 pm
US Pacific (PDT)About 9 am to 6 pm

Does the first payout include impressions from before approval?

X has not said. The help page and terms only say you are paid on qualified impressions; they do not say from when. The reading that fits what creators see, and the most common one, is that earnings start counting from the day you are approved, and your first payout covers the part of the period after that.

An example: approved on October 1 and paid on October 9. That payout can only cover a few days, which is why first payouts are often small. Under the old Creator Revenue Sharing program, a few creators reported a first payout that reached back months, but that was a different program and the reports are anecdotal. The reliable check is the period shown on the payout itself in Creator Studio.

Do old posts keep earning money?

Most likely, yes. X pays on “qualified impressions generated by” your original content, and nothing in its help page or terms ties pay to the date a post was published. So when a video or post from last month gets new Premium views this period, those views should count in this period.

X has not confirmed it in writing, so treat it as the likely reading. In practice it is why a post that keeps getting found, a pinned thread or a video that ranks in search, keeps paying a little every cycle.

What is the minimum, and what if you don’t reach it?

$30 per cycle. Below that you are not paid that cycle. Creators report the balance rolling over to the next one. X’s terms are stricter on paper: amounts below the minimum “will not be paid out,” and if you leave the program below it, nothing is owed. At my rates, $30 takes about 24,000 to 29,000 verified impressions in one 14-day period.

How much do you get per 1,000 impressions?

X publishes no rate and says it can change how payment is calculated. On my account the rate per 1,000 verified impressions has ranged from $0.39 to $1.47 per period across both programs, the old Creator Revenue Sharing and the new one. My two Original Content Rewards payouts so far came to $1.23 and $1.05:

PayoutAmountRate per 1,000 verified
First (Sep 25, 2026)$856.43 for 698K verified impressions$1.23
Second (Oct 9, 2026)$367.85 for 352K verified impressions$1.05

How do you get paid?

In the US, through X Money. Everywhere else, through a Stripe payout account you connect and verify in Creator Studio. Payouts are net of the payment processor’s fees.

Do you have to re-qualify every period?

Not the impression bar. X’s terms say accounts that fall below the impressions threshold “will remain in the Program.” But you must keep meeting the ongoing rules: stay on Premium, post original content and don’t solicit engagement. X reviews accounts periodically. If you are rejected, you get one appeal and can reapply after 42 days.

How do you estimate your next payout?

Take the verified impressions for the current period from Creator Studio, divide by 1,000 and multiply by a rate between about $0.40 and $1.50. The free X payout calculator does it for you and shows a range from a quiet period to a strong one.

Frequently asked questions

When does X pay creators?

Every two weeks, on a Friday. Recent payout days were September 11, September 25 and October 9, 2026, so the next ones should fall on October 23 and November 6. X says payouts are processed every two weeks but does not publish a fixed calendar, so treat future dates as expected, not promised.

What time of day do X payouts arrive?

Based on my own X payouts, from the evening until around 3 at night Danish time: roughly 16:00 to 01:00 UTC, or about noon to 9 pm US Eastern. X does not publish a time, so this is one account’s pattern, not a rule.

Does my first X payout include impressions from before I was approved?

X has not said. The common reading, and the one that fits early payouts after approval, is that earnings start counting from approval. Under the old Creator Revenue Sharing program some creators reported a first payout that covered earlier months, but that is anecdotal and from the old program. Check the period shown on the payout in Creator Studio.

Do old posts keep earning money on X?

Most likely yes. X pays on qualified impressions generated by your original content, and nothing in its help page or terms ties pay to when a post was published. So views an older post gets during a new pay period should count in that period. X has not confirmed this in writing.

What is the minimum payout on X?

$30. Below that you are not paid that cycle. Creators report the balance rolling over to the next cycle; X’s terms say amounts below the minimum are not paid out and that a balance is lost if you leave the program below it.

How much does X pay per 1,000 impressions?

X publishes no rate. On my account it has ranged from $0.39 to $1.47 per 1,000 verified impressions per pay period across the old and new programs; my two Original Content Rewards payouts so far came to $1.23 and $1.05.
