The short version

For an X campaign, verify that a platform supports X creator discovery before comparing its database size. Favikon currently lists X support; Modash’s discovery page focuses on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. For a small first campaign, native X research and a shortlist can be enough to learn what you need.

The right tool depends on where the campaign is stuck: finding suitable creators, managing the relationship, or understanding the result. For a small X campaign, solve that bottleneck before paying for a large database. This is a documentation-based shortlist, not a hands-on vendor performance ranking.

Check network coverage before the feature count

Influencer marketing platforms often lead with large creator databases. That number is only useful if the platform covers the network, geography, language, and subject your campaign needs. A strong video-creator database does not automatically solve X research.

This is a documentation-based shortlist, not a hands-on performance ranking. Product coverage was checked on September 4, 2026. Ask each vendor to demonstrate the workflow with examples from your own market before committing.

Favikon: investigate when you need structured X discovery

Favikon lists X among its supported networks. Its help documentation describes platform filters and discovery sorting options, including network-specific growth. That makes it a relevant candidate to investigate for an X-focused shortlist.

In a demo or trial, search for a narrow category you know well. Compare the returned profiles with current public posts, and ask which X-specific metrics are observed, estimated, or unavailable. Test the coverage before assuming the rest of the campaign workflow fits.

Modash: a useful reminder that platform fit comes first

Modash’s discovery page describes Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. That may fit a visual creator campaign, but it does not establish X discovery support. Do not purchase it for an X requirement without verifying that requirement directly.

If your campaign spans several networks, write separate requirements for each. “Find technical founders on X” and “find creators who demonstrate software on YouTube” may need different discovery methods and different evidence of fit.

Native X research: start here when the shortlist is small

Search the problem your product solves, then inspect the people who repeatedly explain it well. Review recent posts and the replies they attract. Keep the original URLs so someone else can inspect the same evidence.

A hypothetical developer-tool campaign might begin with people teaching the specific workflow the tool improves. A smaller account with relevant conversations can be worth investigating even when a larger account has a more impressive total audience. That is a shortlist hypothesis, not a promised conversion result.

  • Record the creator, topic, example posts, and why their audience might fit.
  • Separate observed evidence from assumptions about audience intent.
  • Check whether sponsored work fits the creator’s normal publishing style.
  • Keep outreach status and agreed deliverables in the same working document.

Ask vendors to demonstrate the same small research task

Give each candidate the same brief: the subject, the intended audience, the language, and a few accounts you already know are relevant. Ask for a shortlist and an explanation of why each profile appeared. This tests whether a product helps with your actual market rather than whether its demo dataset looks impressive.

Inspect several returned accounts yourself. Recent posts and the replies beneath them help you assess topic fit. If the platform supplies audience demographics or engagement estimates, ask how those figures were obtained, how fresh they are, and what they cannot tell you.

Record the missing pieces as well as the attractive ones. A good discovery result with no practical way to track conversations may still fit a one-off campaign. A recurring program might need export, relationship notes, and approval tracking more than another filter.

Use a campaign brief before requesting a quote

Write a one-page brief with the audience, the problem, the product evidence, the desired format, and the action you want readers to take. Include what the creator should evaluate independently rather than prescribing a positive verdict.

For example: “Help developers decide whether this migration tool fits a small TypeScript service. Show one real workflow and the limitations you encounter. Link to the setup guide.” That produces a clearer discussion than “get us more awareness.”

Agree on deliverables, review timing, reuse permissions, and how the sponsorship will be identified. Put expectations in writing so a published post does not become the first time either side discovers a mismatch.

Keep the product claim and the creative decision separate. Supply documentation and access to the relevant workflow; let the creator identify what they can honestly demonstrate. If the product does not fit their audience after evaluation, that is useful information before money and publication dates are committed.

Measure a small campaign before buying a larger system

Decide what success means before outreach: relevant tutorial visits, qualified trials, useful customer questions, or another observable result. Keep the destination and measurement method consistent enough to compare collaborations.

After the first campaign, identify the actual bottleneck. If finding suitable people took most of the work, discovery software may help. If approvals and follow-ups caused delays, relationship management may matter more. If you cannot tell whether visitors understood the offer, improve the landing page and measurement first.

ClimbX is our own product for founder writing and X growth workflows. It is not presented here as a replacement for an influencer campaign marketplace. Choose campaign software for the campaign task you actually have.

Keep discovery research and pricing research separate too. A rate estimate can help frame a conversation, but the actual quote depends on the deliverable, audience fit, usage rights, and work involved. Ask what is included before comparing two numbers.

Before expanding, ask whether the campaign taught you something that improves the next decision. A handful of relevant questions may reveal a missing explanation in your onboarding. A large impression total without relevant visits may point to weak audience fit. Neither observation alone proves that influencer marketing always works or never works.

Frequently asked questions

Which influencer platform supports X?

Favikon currently lists X among its supported platforms. Verify the coverage and metrics you need with a niche-specific demo.

Does every influencer discovery platform include X?

No. Check the networks explicitly listed by the provider. A large overall database does not prove X coverage.

Do I need paid software for a first campaign?

A small shortlist can be researched manually. Use that first process to learn which repeated task would justify software.

Build your founder voice between campaigns

Paid collaborations are one distribution route. ClimbX helps with the posts you write yourself: research relevant examples, develop your own perspective, and review a consistent queue in your voice.
