The short version
The best Typefully alternatives sort by job: OpenTweet ($11.99/mo) for cheap X-only scheduling, Buffer (free, or $5 a month per channel billed yearly) for many networks, Tweet Hunter ($29) for viral research and automation, ClimbX ($29 founding price) for drafts in your voice and reply discovery, SuperX ($49) for engagement and leads, and Postwise ($37) for AI volume.
Skip Hypefury for X: its own pricing page says it no longer supports X. Prices checked October 3, 2026.
Typefully is a good editor. Most people who leave it are not unhappy with the writing surface. They want something it was not built to do, like telling them what to post, or finding conversations to join. So this list is sorted by that job, not by a score.
Why do people look for a Typefully alternative?
Usually for one of three reasons: price structure, the need for ideas, or the need for reach beyond their own posts.
On October 3, 2026, Typefully’s pricing page listed four plans. Free covers 10 posts a month. Creator is $99 a year with annual billing only, and includes AI writing features and X analytics. Business is $18 a month per social set billed yearly, and is where auto-plug, scheduled retweets, team roles and detailed metrics live. Enterprise is custom.
That structure creates the three common reasons to leave. Creators who want auto-plug or team features without a yearly commitment hit the Business tier. Founders who know how to write but not what to write find an empty editor. And accounts under a few thousand followers find that a well-scheduled post still reaches few people, because on a small account replies to others are what bring new readers in.
How do Typefully alternatives compare on price?
Entry prices run from $5 to $49 a month for one X account, though the two cheapest are annual-billing prices. The cheap end buys a queue; the expensive end buys research, automation or drafting.
- Buffer Essentials, 1 channel (billed yearly)$5 · $60 a year
- Typefully Creator (billed yearly only)$8.25 · $99 a year
- OpenTweet Pro$11.99
- Tweet Hunter Discover$29
- ClimbX (founding price)$29
- Postwise Basic$37
- SuperX Pro$49
Most of these tools are X only. Typefully also publishes to LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, Buffer covers X and 10+ other networks, Postwise covers 3 social accounts, and SuperX can cross-post to Bluesky.
The 6 best Typefully alternatives, by job
Each card answers one question: should you trial it this week? Read the “skip it if” line first. It rules tools out faster than the feature list rules them in.
OpenTweet
Writing and scheduling: the cheapest X-only queue with AI drafts.
You like Typefully's job (write, queue, publish) and want it on a monthly bill for less.
You need team review, many networks, or more than 10 AI generations a day on the entry plan.
Pro covers one X account, 20 posts a day, 10 AI generations a day, an evergreen queue of 10 posts, X analytics, a Chrome extension, a Claude desktop extension and API keys. Advanced goes to three accounts and 50 AI generations a day. There is a 7-day trial and annual billing saves 17 percent (OpenTweet pricing).
Tweet Hunter
Growth research: a viral post library plus automation.
You run out of ideas and want to browse posts that already worked, with auto-plug, auto-retweet and evergreen posts built in.
You want the AI writer on the entry plan. It starts on Grow at $49, alongside the X CRM.
Discover includes a library of over 12 million viral posts, scheduling, evergreen posts, 3,000 auto-DMs a month, auto-plug, auto-retweet and X analytics. Grow adds the AI writer and five X accounts. Enterprise at $200 adds custom-trained AI and AI reply generation (Tweet Hunter pricing). The library is broad, so expect to filter for your niche yourself. Our ClimbX vs Tweet Hunter comparison goes further.
ClimbX
AI voice drafting and reply discovery, with you editing and sending every post and reply.
You know your topic but not what to post today, and you want drafts that sound like you, plus a feed of fresh conversations in your niche worth replying to.
You post to LinkedIn or Threads too, need team approvals, want a free plan, or schedule posts with links. ClimbX is X only and blocks scheduling link posts.
ClimbX looks at posts that worked for accounts slightly ahead of you in your niche, then drafts daily posts in your voice from your own past posts. You edit every draft before it goes out, which keeps the account yours. The bar is a draft that reads like you, not one that reads like a tool.
Its Engage feed finds fresh conversations in your niche worth joining. It can draft a reply with AI, and redraft it, but you review, edit and send every reply yourself on X; ClimbX never runs a reply bot. Scheduling refuses posts with links because links cut reach: across my 1,218 original posts from the last 180 days, the 86 with links reached 0.60x my median. If you share links often, that is a real limit. One plan: $29 a month for the first 100 founding members, then $39, with a 7-day trial and a card (ClimbX pricing). The side-by-side with Typefully is in ClimbX vs Typefully.
SuperX
Engagement and leads: replies, signal agents and auto-DMs at volume.
You run X as a lead channel, manage several accounts, and want engagement and outreach tools in the same place as scheduling.
You want to write every reply yourself or you only need a queue. The reply quota and AI writer sit on Advanced.
Pro covers five X accounts, 500 posts a month, 750 AI credits, one Signal Agent with 750 leads a day, 1,000 auto-DMs a month and cross-posting to Bluesky. Advanced, listed at a $49 launch price (normally $99), adds the AI post and thread writer, SuperX Engage with 750 replies a month and a 10M+ viral post library (SuperX pricing). See the best SuperX alternatives if it feels like more than you need.
Buffer
Multi-platform scheduling, free to start.
X is one of several networks you post to and you want one calendar, light AI help and analytics without a big bill.
You want anything built around X specifically: research, voice-trained drafts or reply discovery.
The free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each and one threaded post. Essentials is $5 a month per channel billed yearly ($60 a year), with unlimited scheduling and threads; Team at $10 a month per channel billed yearly ($120 a year) adds approval workflows. Monthly billing costs more, and paid plans start with a 14-day trial. One catch for X: Buffer’s own channel table lists basic analytics only for X Premium profiles, not free X profiles (Buffer pricing).
Postwise
High-volume AI posts across a few accounts.
You want a large number of AI-generated posts a month across up to 3 social accounts and are happy to filter hard.
You care more about sounding like yourself than about volume. Custom AI training is only on the $97 Unlimited plan.
Basic includes 3 social accounts, 500 AI-generated posts a month, 3 months of scheduling, 3 custom AI voices and the GhostWriter assistant. Boss at $59 doubles the posts; Unlimited at $97 adds custom AI training. 7-day trial, 20 percent off annual (Postwise pricing).
Which Typefully alternative fits your bottleneck?
Ask two questions: who brings the ideas, you or the tool, and do you post to X only or to several networks? Buffer and Typefully leave the ideas to you and cover many networks. OpenTweet is X only and still leaves the ideas to you. Tweet Hunter, SuperX and ClimbX bring idea sources on X, and Postwise brings AI volume across a few networks.
| Your reason for leaving | Trial first | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Want monthly billing, same job | OpenTweet | Buffer |
| Post to 4+ networks | Buffer | Postwise |
| Do not know what to post | ClimbX | Tweet Hunter |
| Small account, posts reach few people | ClimbX | SuperX |
| Need auto-DMs and lead tools | SuperX | Tweet Hunter |
| Want many AI posts fast | Postwise | Tweet Hunter |
Two trials is the limit worth running. A third tool in the same week spreads your test posts too thin to compare. For the wider field, including analytics and research tools, see the best X growth tools.
When should you stay on Typefully?
Stay when writing is not your bottleneck and you publish to more than X. Typefully is still the strongest fit in four cases:
| Situation | Why Typefully wins |
|---|---|
| You cross-post to LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky or Mastodon | One editor publishes to all five; the X-only tools here cannot |
| A team writes and reviews posts together | Comments, shared drafts, roles and Slack notifications on Business |
| You post 10 times a month or fewer | The Free plan covers it; nothing here beats free |
| You already know what to post | A calm editor with exact previews is all you need |
If you match two or more of those rows, keep Typefully and spend the time you would have spent switching on replies instead.
How these numbers were measured
Prices come from each vendor’s pricing page, checked October 3, 2026, and are labelled monthly or billed yearly where it matters. The link result is from my own account, @DanielSmidstrup: 1,218 original posts from the last 180 days, lift measured as a post’s impressions divided by my median.
