The short version
A good X suspension appeal is four to six sentences: your handle, the reason X gave, what happened or what you fixed, and a clear ask to restore the account. Log in to the suspended account first. Then open the appeal form in a new tab. If you skip that, the form will not accept your appeal.
Below are four X suspension appeal templates, one for each of the four situations behind most appeals. After them, you will see how to fill in the form so someone reads it. I checked every form detail against X Help on October 12, 2026. Still not sure why it happened? Start with why X suspends accounts and how to get unsuspended.
How to find out why your X account is suspended
Two minutes here can save you a wasted appeal. First, log in to the suspended account. X may ask you to add a phone number or confirm your email. X says finishing those steps can unsuspend the account right away, with no appeal at all.
If that does not happen, find the email X sent. It names the rule. Your appeal should answer that rule. Do not guess at a different one. The most common email in 2026 is an automated inauthentic-behavior suspension. It reads like this:
Your account was detected by our systems and automatically suspended for violating the X Rules. Specifically, for: Violating our rules against inauthentic behaviors.
“Detected by our systems” and “automatically” mean no person has looked at it yet. That is good news. Your appeal is what gets a person to look. So write it like a person, in your own plain words. Template 1 below is for exactly this email.
4 X appeal templates you can copy
Pick the one closest to what happened. Replace everything in [brackets]. Cut anything that is not true for you. Four to six sentences is enough. Long stories get skimmed.
1. Flagged as spam or "inauthentic behavior" by mistake
Hello, My account @[handle] was suspended for [spam / inauthentic behavior, as stated in the email]. I am a real person and this is my only account. I post about [topic] and reply to people in my field by hand. On [date] I [posted more than usual / followed a lot of accounts / replied quickly to many posts], which may have looked automated. I do not use bots, bought followers or engagement groups. Please review the account and restore it. I am happy to verify my phone number or email. Thank you, [Your name]
2. Account hacked or compromised
Hello, My account @[handle] was suspended after someone else got access to it. On [date] I noticed [posts / DMs / a changed email] that I did not make. I have changed my password, turned on two-factor authentication, signed out of all other sessions and removed apps I do not recognize. The posts made by the other person were not mine. Please restore the account to me. I can confirm ownership with the email [your email] or the phone number ending in [last 2 digits]. Thank you, [Your name]
3. Suspended for a post you believe did not break the rules
Hello, My account @[handle] was suspended for this post: [paste the post text or link from the email]. I understand it was flagged under [the rule named in the email]. In context, the post was [a joke between friends / a quote I was criticizing / news reporting], not [harassment / a threat / hateful conduct]. [One sentence of context.] I have deleted the post if that is required to restore the account. Please review the decision. Thank you, [Your name]
4. You did break a rule and fixed it
Hello, My account @[handle] was suspended, and I understand why. I used [a follow/unfollow tool / an auto-DM tool / a giveaway that asked people to follow] that broke the X Rules. I have disconnected that app in Settings, deleted the posts involved, and will not use it again. I have read the X Rules on platform manipulation. Please consider restoring the account. It is my main account for [what you use it for]. Thank you, [Your name]
If you used an automation tool, disconnect it before you appeal. Go to Settings and privacy, Security and account access, Apps and sessions, Connected apps. Follow and unfollow tools, auto-DMs and auto-replies usually cause spam and inauthentic behavior suspensions. Scheduling your own posts is fine. Then say in the appeal that you disconnected it, like template 4 does.
Once you are back, you still need a way to post without that risk. ClimbX drafts posts in your voice and only schedules what you approve. It never likes, follows or DMs for you, and it never replies to other people for you.
Where to find the X appeal form, and how to fill it in
- 1
Log in to the suspended account
On x.com, in a desktop browser if you can. The form checks which account is logged in. - 2
Open the appeal form in a new tab
Go to help.x.com/en/forms/account-access/appeals. If it says your browser is not supported, switch browsers. - 3
Paste your template into "Description of the problem"
In that box, X asks why you think you did not break the rules. In the other fields, use your real name and the email on the account. - 4
Submit once, then watch your email
Replies come to the email on the account, sometimes with a question. Answer it instead of filing a new appeal.
What helps an appeal and what hurts it
| Helps | Hurts |
|---|---|
| Quoting the reason from the email | Guessing at a reason X never gave |
| Saying what you changed | Insisting you did nothing at all, if you did |
| Four to six sentences | A long story about your follower count |
| One appeal, then waiting | Five copies of the same appeal |
| Calm and specific | Threats, insults or legal threats |
Which template fits your suspension
Match the template to the reason in X’s email. Spam or inauthentic behavior, the most common, is template 1. Account security at risk means X thinks someone hacked the account: use template 2. Abusive posts or behavior usually comes with a named post. Use template 3 if you disagree, or template 4 if you broke the rule. If you are only locked, finish the challenge (often a phone number). That usually ends it without an appeal. For what each type means and why it happens, read why X suspends accounts.
What happens while your X account is suspended: subscription, money and data
X Premium keeps billing you. X’s own suspension email says an active Premium subscription is not cancelled automatically. If you do not want to pay while you wait, cancel it where you bought it: on the web, in the App Store or in Google Play.
X Money mostly keeps working. According to X Help, only two kinds of suspension cut off X Money: child safety, and violent and hateful entities. For any other reason, Money features keep working as normal.
You can still get your data. A suspended account can ask X Help for a copy of its information. Do that early if the account holds years of posts you care about.
You cannot simply deactivate it. X says you need to file an appeal first. Only after that can you ask X to deactivate a suspended account.
How long an appeal takes
X does not publish a timeline. Many first-time suspensions from an automatic spam flag are lifted within a few days of a clean appeal. Others take weeks, especially permanent ones. Some never get a reply. Replies go to the email on the account. Make sure you can read that inbox, and check your spam folder.
If the appeal is rejected
Read the reply carefully. If X names a post, delete it and say so in a new appeal. That is often the missing step. If X says the decision is final, the account stays read-only. You can still request a copy of your data from X Help.
Do not open a new account to keep posting while you wait. X treats that as ban evasion under its rules. You can lose the new account too.
And do not send the same appeal every day. People in suspension threads describe appealing again and again for months. A copy of your appeal does not move you up the queue. It just makes the queue longer. Send one clear appeal. Answer any question X sends back. Then wait.
Frequently asked questions
What should I write in an X suspension appeal?
Four things, in four to six sentences: your handle, the reason X gave (copy it from the email), what happened or what you fixed, and a clear ask to restore the account. Stick to the facts and be polite. Long stories, anger and threats to sue do not help.
Why does the appeal form say I am not logged into a suspended account?
X asks you to log in to the suspended account first. Then open the appeal form in a new browser tab. If you open the form while logged out, or logged into another account, it shows "You are not currently logged into a suspended X account". If the form says your browser is not supported, try another browser.
How long does an X suspension appeal take?
X does not publish a timeline. Many first-time suspensions clear within a few days of a clean appeal. Others take weeks. Sending the same appeal again does not speed it up, and it can bury the first one.
Can I appeal more than once?
You can, but make the first appeal your best one. If it is rejected, wait for the reply. Answer any question X asks. Only then send a new appeal, with new information.
Does X cancel my Premium subscription when my account is suspended?
No. X’s suspension email says an active Premium subscription is not cancelled automatically. If you do not want to keep paying while you wait, cancel it where you bought it (web, App Store or Google Play).
Can I make a new X account while my account is suspended?
No. Making a new account to get around a suspension counts as ban evasion under the X Rules. It can get the new account suspended too. Appeal the original instead.
Back on X? Grow without the tools that got you flagged.
ClimbX drafts posts in your voice and schedules only what you approve. No auto-follow, no auto-DMs, no bought engagement.
