The short version

Twitter ghostwriter cost in 2026 falls into three monthly retainer tiers: beginner freelancers at $300 to $800 a month, mid-level and established solo writers at $1,000 to $3,000 a month, and agencies or premium writers at $3,000 to $8,000 a month. One-off marketplace packages start around $100, but that buys a single batch, not a month.

The price buys time, not voice. You still supply the stories and review every post, so budget a few hours a week of your own time on top of the invoice.

Most pages that rank for this question are written by ghostwriting agencies, so the numbers tend to flatter the service. I pulled every price below from a public pricing page, marketplace listing or published report on October 3, 2026, and I name each source so you can check it yourself.

How much does a Twitter ghostwriter cost?

Between $300 and $8,000 a month for an ongoing retainer, or from about $100 for a one-off package. The tier decides almost everything else: how many posts you get, whether replies are included, and how much of your own time it takes.

The Premium Ghostwriting Academy number matters because it comes from the people training ghostwriters. Its guidance tells writers that anything under $3,000 a month for a recurring service is probably undercharging, so mid-tier quotes may move toward that floor.

What does each price tier actually include?

Fewer posts than the monthly price suggests. Read the deliverables, not the headline price, because “X ghostwriting” means anything from a pack of drafts to a writer replying as you.

A marketplace gig is a one-off pack of posts, with no replies and no strategy. A beginner writes a limited number of posts a month, rarely handles replies and offers light strategy. A mid-level writer adds threads, sometimes replies, and a content plan of 3 to 5 posts a week. Agency packages vary, often include replying as you, and add calls and reporting.

The best-documented offer I found is Pete Codes: 16 hand-written posts, 40 replies to target accounts and 100 follows in your niche for $2,900 a month. That is four posts a week. For comparison, my own account averaged about 8 original posts a day over the last 90 days (733 posts, counted October 3). A retainer at that tier keeps an account alive, but it does not make it a daily presence.

Ask this before you sign: who writes the replies? A writer who replies as you is the biggest voice risk in the whole package, because replies are where people talk back. If replies are included, ask to approve them, or keep them for yourself.

What does a ghostwritten tweet cost per post?

Roughly $50 to $1,000 per original post if you divide the package price by the posts delivered. That is a rough way to compare offers, not the price of writing one tweet, because most packages also include replies, follows or strategy.

Package price per original post delivered, in US dollars
  • VC ghostwriter, 10 posts a month (2022, historical)$500 · to $1,000
  • Solo ghostwriter package (also 40 replies, 100 follows)$181 · $2,900 / 16 posts
  • Per-tweet freelance rate$50 · to $150
  • ClimbX, using 2 drafts a day (you edit and finish each one)$0.48 · $29 founding price / ~60 drafts
Low end of each published range, checked October 3, 2026. Each bar divides a whole package by its original posts, so it is an illustration, not a like-for-like price. VC writer: $5,000 to $10,000 for 10 posts a month, per a 2022 essay in Business Insider (historical, not a 2026 rate). Solo writer: $2,900 also buys 40 replies and 100 follows, which this bar ignores. Per-tweet rate: $50 to $150, per the NYC Ghostwriting guide. ClimbX: $29 a month founding price divided by 60 drafts; it can also draft replies, but you edit and send every post and reply yourself, so you pay in your own time instead.

So the ClimbX bar is not a like-for-like comparison, and I do not want it to read as one. A ghostwriter takes the writing off your plate. A drafting tool only takes the blank page off it. The useful question is which of those two things you are short of.

What costs come on top of the ghostwriter’s fee?

Your own time, mostly. Four costs never show up on the invoice, and each is a common reason founders quietly cancel retainers.

Onboarding. The writer needs your stories, opinions and history. The NYC Ghostwriting guide says the first few weeks often go to testing styles. Pete Codes bills upfront, so a three-month plan is $8,000 before the voice has settled.

Approval loops. Every draft still needs your read and your edits. If posts come in a Google Sheet once a week, timely posts are already stale by the time you approve them.

Voice drift. A writer gets your topics right faster than your quirks. In my own posts the gap between shapes is large: in an earlier study of 1,189 of my original posts over 180 days, audience questions had a median of 3,768 impressions against 2,390 for stories. A writer who defaults to stories and lists because they are easy to write will cost you reach without either of you noticing.

The account is still you. Every post, every reply and every opinion goes out under your name. When a post lands badly, the writer moves on and you answer the replies.

Should you hire a ghostwriter, write with AI trained on your posts, or mix both?

Hire when time is your constraint and the hours saved are worth more than the fee. Use AI trained on your own posts when ideas and the blank page are the constraint. Mix when you want both, but keep replies and personal stories yourself.

On cost against authorship, the options line up like this: a marketplace gig is cheap but someone else writes; a solo pro or an agency costs the most and someone else still writes; a writer who drafts while you edit sits in the middle; AI in your voice and writing alone cost least and keep the final word with you, but use the most of your own time.

Your situationPickWhy

You have opinions but stare at a blank boxAI trained on your postsDrafts start from your voice; you finish them
You want daily posts and have 20 minutes a dayAI trained on your postsDaily volume at a 4-posts-a-week retainer is not on offer
You want threads and launch posts done wellMixHire per project; write the daily posts yourself
Replies are where your leads come fromKeep them in your handsDraft with help if you like, but you read, edit and send each one

A quick example of that test: a writer saves you 6 hours a month but you spend 2 briefing and approving, so you net 4 hours. At $2,900 a month, that only pays if your hour is worth more than $725. Plug in your own numbers before you compare quotes.

For reach and replies, the data on which posts work points the same way. In my top 500 posts against my bottom 200 (by impressions, same 180 days), the shapes that won were short and personal: community calls, quick-reply hooks and questions. Expert explainers and playbooks, the posts a ghostwriter can produce without you, landed far more often in the bottom group. That is one account, though. Across about 54,000 original posts from 669 ClimbX users, longer posts did slightly better than short ones (46+ words at 1.14x their author’s median), so test length against your own median. And if your goal is leads or sales rather than reach, detailed explainers can still earn their place even when they get fewer replies. Either way, the posts that work best are the ones that need you in them.

That is why ClimbX is built as the “you stay the author” option, not a ghostwriter. It drafts posts in your voice from your own past posts and from what worked for accounts slightly ahead of you, and you edit every one before it goes out. Its Engage feed finds conversations worth joining and can draft a reply you edit and send yourself on X. A post goes out only after you approve it, now or at a time you schedule. The drafts read like you because you finish them. It is $29 a month at the founding price for the first 100 members, then $39. Before you pay any ghostwriter

  • Divide the package price by the posts delivered, then list what else it includes, so you compare like with like.
  • Ask who writes replies, and whether you approve them first.
  • Ask for three sample posts written in your voice before you pay for a month.
  • Agree how fast you approve drafts, so timely posts do not go stale.
  • Keep personal stories and milestones for yourself; they are your best posts.

If you write it yourself, the hardest part is the plan, not the sentences. The weekly X content calendar for founders gives each day a post shape, and how to use AI for personal branding covers where AI helps without making you sound generic.

How these numbers were measured

Prices: public pricing pages, listings and reports, checked October 3, 2026; the 2022 VC example is historical. My data: original posts from @DanielSmidstrup, impressions taken from X. Shape medians come from 1,189 posts over 180 days in an earlier study; the top 500 vs bottom 200 comparison is from the same 180-day window; the posting rate is 733 posts over the last 90 days, counted October 3, 2026. Cross-user results are anonymized aggregates over about 54,000 original posts from 669 ClimbX users, with lift measured as a post’s impressions divided by that author’s own median, and my account excluded.

Common questions about Twitter ghostwriter cost

How much does a Twitter ghostwriter cost per month?

Monthly retainers run $300-$800 for a beginner, $1,000-$3,000 for mid-level and established solo writers, and $3,000-$8,000 for agencies and premium writers. One-off marketplace packages start around $100, but that is a single batch of posts, not a month of service. Prices checked October 2026.

How many posts do you get for the money?

Fewer than most people expect. One founder-focused writer charges $2,900 a month for 16 posts, 40 replies and 100 follows, which is about four posts a week. As a historical data point, a 2022 report on a VC ghostwriter described $5,000 to $10,000 for 10 posts a month.

Is it worth hiring a Twitter ghostwriter?

It is worth it when the hours it actually saves you, minus the time you spend briefing and approving, are worth more than the retainer, and you have stories and opinions to feed the writer. If you mostly lack ideas rather than time, an AI trained on your own posts plus 20 minutes a day of editing costs far less.

Do people on X know when an account is ghostwritten?

Often, over time. Voice drift shows up in replies, where a writer cannot answer follow-up questions the way you would. Keeping replies and personal stories in your own hands is the simplest way to stay recognisably you.

Is ClimbX a ghostwriter?

No. ClimbX drafts posts in your voice from your own past posts and from what worked for accounts slightly ahead of you, but you edit and approve every post. It costs $29 a month at the founding price and you stay the author.
