The short version
To cancel X Premium, cancel it where you pay for it. That is X on the web, Apple on an iPhone, Google Play on Android, or your grok.com dashboard if you switched to The X Subscription.
Your features stay until the end of the period you paid for. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. In most cases you don’t get money back for time you already paid.
- 24 hours
- Cancel before renewal
- End of term
- When your features stop
- No refund
- Usually, for time already paid
- 14 days
- EU/UK withdrawal, new plans
First, find out where you pay
You can only cancel on the platform you bought from. This is why most people can’t find the cancel button: they look on x.com, but they paid through Apple or Google.

How to cancel X Premium on the web
If you subscribed on x.com, cancel in your X settings. X’s Help Center only says to “manage your subscription from Settings”, and menu names move around, so look for the Premium or subscription entry.
- 1
Log in on x.com
Use a computer or a phone browser, on the account that has Premium. - 2
Open Settings
Click More in the left menu, then Settings and privacy. - 3
Open your Premium subscription
Find Premium or your subscription in the settings list. - 4
Choose Manage subscription, then Cancel
Confirm. Your features stay until your next billing date.
How to cancel X Premium on iPhone
If you bought Premium in the X app on an iPhone, Apple bills you. Cancel it in your iPhone settings. The X app can’t do it for you.
- 1
Open Settings and tap your name
At the top of the Settings app. - 2
Tap Subscriptions
You see every subscription Apple bills you for. - 3
Tap X
Pick the X Premium subscription. - 4
Tap Cancel Subscription
You may need to scroll down. No Cancel button, or a red expiry message? Then it is already cancelled.
On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then Subscriptions. These steps come from Apple’s own guide.
How to cancel X Premium on Android
If you bought Premium on an Android phone, Google Play bills you. Cancel it in Google Play.
- 1
Open your Google Play subscriptions
In the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. On a computer, go to your subscriptions on play.google.com. - 2
Pick X
Check you are signed in to the right Google account. - 3
Tap Cancel subscription
On a computer, click Manage first. - 4
Pick a reason and confirm
You keep access until the paid time ends.

X’s Premium FAQ says your blue checkmark stays until the end of the term you paid for, unless your account is suspended or X removes it for another reason.
Can you get an X Premium refund?
Usually not. X says Premium subscriptions are non-refundable unless the law requires it. Cancelling stops the next charge. It doesn’t pay back the current one.
| Your situation | What the rules say |
|---|---|
| Paid on x.com | Non-refundable unless the law requires it |
| Paid on iPhone | Ask Apple. X says app refunds go through Apple |
| Paid on Android | Ask Google. X says app refunds go through Google |
| The X Subscription, in the EEA, UK or Switzerland | 14 days to withdraw, request by email to support@x.ai |
| Switched old Premium to The X Subscription | Old plan refunded for unused time, to your original card |
From X’s Premium FAQ, the X Subscription terms and the refund docs, checked October 25, 2026.

Before you cancel: is there a cheaper plan?
Not for new sign-ups. The X Subscription list starts at $8 a month for Plus, which has the checkmark. The old $3 Basic plan isn’t on the new list.
| Plan | Price | Checkmark | Who can get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | No | Everyone |
| Old Basic | $3 | No | Only if you already have it |
| Old Premium | $8 | Yes | Only if you already have it |
| Plus (The X Subscription) | $8 | Yes | New sign-ups |
| Premium (The X Subscription) | $30 | Yes | New sign-ups |
Monthly US web prices before tax, from X’s About X Premium page and SpaceXSI pricing (the company behind Grok), checked October 25, 2026. No plan cheaper than Plus was listed that day. Check the pricing page before you decide.
Three options before you cancel:
- 1
On the old Basic plan? Keep it
Basic still gives you edit post, longer posts and reply prioritization for $3. Existing plans keep running unless you change them. If you cancel, $3 may not come back. - 2
On Premium+? Downgrade
On the web, your current plan runs until the billing date, then switches to the cheaper one. No refund for the current month. Is the top tier worth it at all? See Premium vs Premium+. - 3
Not sure the checkmark pays off? Run the numbers
Put your followers and goals into the Is X Premium worth it calculator before you decide.
Can you still grow after cancelling?
Yes. Premium gives your replies a push, but it doesn’t write your posts or find the right people to reply to. Posting every day and replying to accounts in your niche does most of the work. The full plan is in how to grow on X without Premium.
That daily work is what ClimbX helps with. It drafts posts in your voice and finds posts worth replying to. You edit and approve everything before it goes out.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel X Premium?
Cancel it where you pay for it. Bought on x.com: cancel in your X settings on the web. Bought on an iPhone: Settings, tap your name, Subscriptions. Bought on Android: your subscriptions in Google Play. Switched to The X Subscription: Billing & invoices on your grok.com dashboard.
Can I get a refund for X Premium?
Usually not. X’s Premium FAQ says subscriptions are non-refundable unless the law requires it, and cancelling does not refund what you already paid. App Store and Google Play refunds go through Apple or Google. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, The X Subscription terms give consumers a 14-day right to withdraw.
When do I lose my checkmark after cancelling?
At the end of the period you paid for. X says your blue checkmark stays until the end of your subscription term, unless your account is suspended or X removes it for another reason.
Why can’t I find the cancel button on X?
You probably paid somewhere else. A plan bought in the iPhone app is cancelled in Apple settings, and one bought on Android is cancelled in Google Play. If you switched to The X Subscription, the plan lives in your grok.com dashboard. Check your receipt email to see who bills you.
Does deleting the X app cancel Premium?
No. Google says uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription, and Apple keeps billing until you cancel in Settings. Cancel the plan first, then delete the app if you want.
Do I lose my followers or posts if I cancel X Premium?
No. Your account, followers and posts stay. You lose the paid features: the checkmark, editing posts, writing posts over 280 characters, reply prioritization and the right to apply for creator payouts.
How do I cancel a gifted X Premium subscription?
X’s Premium FAQ says to message @Subscriptions on X to cancel a gifted subscription.
Grow without paying for reach.
ClimbX drafts daily posts in your voice, schedules them and finds the right posts to reply to. You approve every word. From $29/month, 7-day trial.
