How it works
- 1
Type your text. Every style updates as you type.
- 2
Pick a style. Each row shows how many characters it costs on X, so you know it still fits.
- 3
Copy and paste. Tap Copy and paste it into the X composer, your bio or your display name.
Use it for emphasis, not whole posts
- Screen readers can read styled letters one by one, or skip them. People who rely on them may miss the word.
- X search treats styled letters as different characters, so styled words are harder to find.
- Most styled letters count as 2 characters on X, so a styled post hits 280 twice as fast.
- One or two styled words stand out. A whole styled post reads like spam.

Common questions
- Does X support bold or italic text?
- Not natively. The X composer has no formatting buttons for regular posts. These styles work because each letter is swapped for a look-alike Unicode character, which X shows like any other text.
- Will it work in my bio and display name?
- Yes, you can paste styled text into your bio and display name. Styled letters are stored as longer Unicode characters, so they can use up the 160-character bio and 50-character name limits faster than plain text. Keep it to a word or two.
- Is styled text bad for accessibility?
- It can be. Some screen readers read each styled letter by its Unicode name, such as "mathematical bold capital B", or skip it. Use it for a word or two of emphasis, never a whole post.
- Does styled text hurt X search?
- Styled letters are different characters from plain ones, so a word in bold may not match when people search for it. Keep names, keywords and anything you want found in plain text.
- Why do some characters stay plain?
- Unicode only has styled versions of some characters. Letters A to Z and digits map where a version exists. Punctuation, accented letters and emoji stay as they are, and a few styles have no digits.
- Why does the styled text cost more characters?
- X counts most characters outside basic Latin as 2. Bold, italic and most other styles use those characters, so the same word can cost twice as much. Each row shows the exact count.
