Twitter Shadowban Checker
Find out if people can still find your posts, your profile and your replies on X.

What is a shadowban?
A shadowban is when X quietly limits who can see your account, without telling you. You can still post, like and reply as normal. The difference is on the other side: fewer people find what you post, so views and replies drop for no clear reason.
X calls this visibility filtering. It shows up in three common ways:
- Search ban. Your posts do not show up in X search, even when someone searches your exact handle.
- Reply deboosting. Your replies are hidden behind "Show more replies" or "Show probable spam", so the people you reply to rarely see them.
- Search suggestion ban. Your profile stops appearing when people start typing your name in the search box.
X adds a label to some limited posts, but many limits come with no notice at all. That is why a test from the outside is useful. More on how the labels work in X algorithm labels and visibility filtering.
How the shadowban test works
- 1
Account status. We read your public profile to see if the account is live, protected, suspended or gone.
- 2
Search ban. We read your latest posts, then search X for posts from your handle. If your posts exist but search finds none of them, that is a search ban.
- 3
Reply deboosting. We take your newest reply to someone else and read that conversation for the same few minutes. If other replies show and yours does not, X may be hiding your replies.
Each check comes back as clear, warning or can't tell, with one sentence on why. Results are kept for 6 hours, so checking the same handle again is instant.
What to do if you are shadowbanned
- 1
Stop the trigger. Mass following and unfollowing, the same reply pasted under many posts, a pile of hashtags, a link in every post and automation tools are the usual causes. Pause all of them.
- 2
Post like a person for a few days. A few normal posts and thoughtful replies a day. No bursts, no copy and paste, no new accounts to get around it.
- 3
Clean up and verify. Delete posts X has labeled, confirm your email and phone number, and fill in a real bio and profile picture.
- 4
Check again in 2 to 3 days. Most limits lift on their own once the cause stops. If yours does not, the cause is still running.
Locked out completely? That is a suspension, not a shadowban. Start with what to do when your X account is suspended and the step-by-step recovery guide.

What this test cannot see
- X's internal records. This is an estimate from what public search and conversations show, not a statement from X.
- Search suggestions. Whether your profile shows up as people type your name is not something public data can test.
- Reach in the For You feed. Lower views can also come from posting at quiet times or a topic that did not land.
- Protected accounts. Only approved followers see protected posts, so search and reply checks cannot run.
Twitter shadowban checker: common questions
- What does shadowban mean on Twitter?
- A shadowban is when X quietly limits who can see your account without telling you. Your posts still go out, but they stop showing in search, your replies get tucked away, or your profile stops showing up when people type your name. X calls this visibility filtering.
- How do I know if I am shadowbanned on X?
- Run the check above. It looks for your recent posts in X search, looks for your latest reply in the conversation it belongs to, and reads your account status. If your posts exist but search cannot find them, or your reply is missing while others show, something is hiding you.
- Is this shadowban test accurate?
- It is an estimate from public data, not X's internal records. X does not publish who it limits, so no outside tool can be certain. A clear result means people can find you right now. A warning is worth acting on, and worth checking again in a day or two.
- How long does a Twitter shadowban last?
- X does not say. Most limits are temporary and lift on their own once the behavior that triggered them stops, often within days to a couple of weeks. If it keeps coming back, something you do every day is still setting it off.
- Does it post anything or need my X login?
- No. It never posts, follows or changes anything, and it does not need your login. It only reads public data: your profile, about 20 recent posts and replies, one search and one conversation.
- Is a shadowban the same as a suspension?
- No. A suspended account is locked and nobody can see it. A shadowbanned account works normally for you, but fewer people can find it. The checker tells you which one you are dealing with.
